Thanks for participating in Sansar’s creator preview!
Opening Day Is Coming
Very soon, Sansar will be open to the public as a creator beta - you’ll be able to share your creations with whomever you like, and anyone will be able to sign up and get started creating, without requiring an invitation. So, now is a great time to get your creations ready for their public debut.
Join Our Pile-On
The Sansar team is looking to have as many people as possible login at once this week to help us load-test the system. Please help us by logging in to Sansar at 11am PT on Wednesdsay, July 26th. You can do whatever you like - explore experiences in the Atlas, work on your own creations, or even just hang out in a spot you like.
A New Release Is Here
We’ve just released a new version! Sansar should update to the latest version automatically. As always, full release notes will be available here, and below are a few highlights from the changes.
New in the latest Sansar release:
- Avatar Attachments
- You can now attach accessories on your Avatars via the Character Editor! We’ve added a few accessories on the accessories tab you can use to vamp up your avatar.
- Upload your own attachments in Sansar via the Character Editor to add your own flair to your avatar!
- Please note that creators cannot yet sell accessories in the Store, but we look forward to giving you access to this feature soon!
- Audio Improvements
- You can now apply audio occlusion, which means walls can block sound. This gives you better control to separate sounds in different spaces. Note: you will need to enable Compute Scene Reverb to hear this effect.
- There are two new additions to audio materials: Grass and Bushes, with matching footstep sounds
- Building progress indicators - New percentage indicators allow you to know the progress of your scene as it builds. This also reflects information as it builds compute scene reverb and global illumination into your scene.
- User Interface update - Some UI elements in Sansar have been changed, which includes a significant change in the Scene Editor’s top control panel and the screenshot tool among many others.
- Improvements on motion-driven body animations
- Arm animations have been optimized for smoother movements.
- Arm animations using controllers are now enabled by default when entering VR mode! Simply press on F6 on the keyboard to deactivate arm movement tracking.
- Improved throwing physics!
- Global Illumination Improvements
- Script API - a few minor updates which cover some documentation cleanup
- RigidBodyComponent - Added Quaternion overloads for RigidBodyComponent.SetOrientation
- EditorVisibleAttribute - Allows users to add non-public fields to the properties for a script.
- Fixed ClusterResource fields in script properties so they can be set during edit time.
- Updated example scripts on the client folder, knowledge base, and store.
It’s great to see what you’re working on, so please publish and list your experiences in the Atlas, join us on Friday at Creator Preview office hours, in the forum, or drop us a line via the support tool if you need help.
See you in VR!
